Don’t say “cheese!”

Lovin’ the way this Spring session turned out!   My favorite shots are the funnest..the ones where I succeed in capturing the natural smile, belly laugh, actual kid, and not the “cheeeeeeeeeeese!!”    My philosophy is, whatever it takes!   I will bring out the bubbles, chalk, twirly gigs, and the famous Sophie the giraffe to get a child comfortable and laughing.  It’s more important for me that a child is at ease in front of my lens…that’s the only time I know I’ll get that perfect picture.  Actually, now that I’m blogging and thinking about it, the same goes for the adults in front of my lens…minus the bubbles, chalk, whirly gigs, and Sophie the giraffe!

  1. You definitely capture her spirit in these photos! She loves the camera for sure. I wouldn’t be opposed to breaking out the bubbles for photo shoots. Nice work!

Great post, Karen! I LOVE the pictures – you definitely captured the beauty of this little girl! Being comfortable in front of the lens it really important – especially for adults. We have a long time of not liking to see pictures of ourselves. I just recently got new biz headshots and the photographer was wonderful and made me feel really comfortable – so the picutres turned out fantastic! For the record, as an adult, I would love the bubbles and twirly gigs :-). Keep bringing beauty to the world!

  3. Candid shots are my favorite. You get the best stuff with kids when you’re open to fun.

These are awesome — I can tell you got the “natural” girl in her. Too bad you and I don’t live closer to each other (I’m in TX). I HATE to be photographed, and working with someone like you would be a godsend! Got a doppleganger near Beaumont, TX??

Beautiful shots!!! What wonderful “natural” poses. Yellow is such a wonderful color, but you don’t see it very often! I love the contrast between her hair and the yellow background, the colors really are gorgerous (not to mention the little girl!!!
