Easter Cousins

After doing this shoot at the remarkable Chatham Manor, I learned from another photographer that Chatham is now requiring a permit to hold a photo shoot on the grounds….:-(  Big sad face!   It is such a beautiful place, and quickly became wildly popular among photographers.  I hadn’t shot there in a while before this shoot, but last I did, there were at least a dozen other photographers shooting on the grounds.  We were taking over.  I understand and respect the reasons why Chatham has changed their guidelines.  It is richly historical with compelling stories…if you have the opportunity, go visit them sometime!  Especially if you are a Civil War buff.

Now, to the cousins… the stars of this blog post! Little Jack came to me last Spring for a Mommy and Me session, and he brought his cousin this year for their Easter session!  What cuties.  With cute families to match!  I’m lovin’ the colors here, editing these images made my heart swell.  I decided to process the last image in color and in black and white… which do you like better?  I have my fave…:-)

My fav of all the pics would have to be the one of Jack’s cousin holding the pinwheel. It’s a great shot from a unique angle. Sorry to hear about losing this location–guess you’ll be on the hunt for another one for your shoots. 🙂

Thanks Donna! The fabulous thing about Northern Virginia is there are tons of gorgeous locations. Usually, I shoot at my clients homes. 🙂

What adorable photos!!! The subjects are the cutest! I took photography in college, but really haven’t looked at photography with a critical eye since – I have to say I think your photos really are amazing…the one of the little boy on the brick path is REALLY good!!! Thanks for sharing!

Another batch of excellent photos, Karen. I love them all and my favorite of the last two is going to have to be the color just because I’m loving all the pretty colors. Great job, Karen!

Beautiful work Karen. I was just looking through old pictures the other day and found a lot of us posing for the camara. Now you are taking wonderful photos. Wish you were closer to take pictures of Jessica in Ballet costumes. Much love to you cousin. Keep up the beautiful work.
